ECOWAS Commission Vice President received by Malian Prime Minister

Bamako, Mali (PANA) - The Vice President of the Commission of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), Ms. Finda Koroma, on a visit to Mali, was on Tuesday received in audience by Prime Minister  Moctar Ouane, official sources here said.

According to the same sources, Ms. Koroma assured the Prime Minister of ECOWAS' commitment to accompany the transition authorities for the success of their mission.

She also informed him of several development and social investment projects in the areas of health, education, entrepreneurship and the digital economy, which the sub-regional organisation wishes to make available to Mali to support the Transition.

Thanking ECOWAS for the support, understanding and diligence with which it has helped Mali emerge from sanctions, Mr. Ouane reassured the Commission's Vice President that the Malian government will honour all its international commitments, and will spare no effort to consolidate this effort aimed at restoring confidence between Mali and all its partners.

ECOWAS had imposed sanctions against Mali following the seizure of power by a military junta on 18 August. The sanctions were lifted when the military junta complied with the recommendations issued by the Heads of State of the sub-regional organisation.
