DR Congo: Third consecutive day without confirmed case of Ebola in Equateur

Kinshasa, DR Congo (PANA) - The Democratic Republic of Congo for three consecutive days recorded no new confirmed case of Ebola, the daily report of the ministry of Health on the epidemiological situation sent to PANA here Tuesday said.

There has been no reported case since Saturday, 1 August until Monday 3 August in the province of Equateur, the ministry said.

Since the outbreak of the eleventh epidemic on 1 June 2020, the overall cases stand at 73, including 69 confirmed cases and four probable cases.

Altogether, there have been 31 deaths, including 27 of confirmed cases and four deaths of probable cases, as well as 27 Ebola recoveries.

The sources also said that 19,214 people had been vaccinated with the rVSV-ZEBOV-GP vaccine since the beginning of the exercise on 5 June 2020 until 2 August 2020.

Presently, seven health zones are affected by the epidemic in the province of Equateur. They are the health zones of Bikoro, Bolomba, Iboko, Mbandaka, Lotumbe, Wangata and Ingende.

Since the beginning of the epidemic, the overall number of controlled travellers (temperatute taking) at the health checkpoints is 454,004.

To date, 16 health entry and checkpoints have been established in the province of Equateur to protect neighbouring zones, as well as the other cities of the country and avoid the spread of the epidemic to neighbouring countries.
