DR Congo: President Felix Tshisekedi gives up all measures against Minembwe

Kinshasa, DR Congo (PANA) - The president of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Felix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, Thursday announced his decision to drop all actions against Minembwe.

At a news conference at the end of his visit to Goma, administrative district of the North-Kivu province, President Tshisekedi stated:

“For me, the people’s salvation is the supreme law. I cannot leave my people in danger. I decide to cancel what was issued as measures against Minembwe.”

The DRC president announced the establishment shortly of a commission of scientific experts with the mission to draw the boundary of the territory.

Those experts will work together with the indigenous populations.

In the meantime, President Tshisekedi has warned against any campaign of manipulation of the population.

Speaking about the operations of disarmament, demobilization and community reintegration (DDRC) for ex-combatants, the Congolese president said he had paid special attention to the problem, adding that he had obtained financing of 50 million US dollars for that purpose.

In this regard, President Tshisekedi announced the nomination in the days to come of a coordinator of the DDRC programme.
