DR Congo: 110 cases of Ebola patients recorded since 1 June 2020

Kinshasa, DR Congo (PANA) - The total number of patients affected by the Ebola disease since the 11th epidemic was detected on 1 June in DR Congo stands at 110, an official source said here Thursday.

The cases detected in the province of Equateur comprise 104 confirmed and six probable ones, the daily bulletin of the Health ministry on the epidemiological situation of the disease sent to PANA said.

Altogether, there were 47 deaths (41 deaths of confirmed cases and six deaths of probable cases) and 48 recoveries from the virus.

Three Ebola patients who recovered on 2 September got out of the Ebola treatment center (ETC) of Lotumbe in the province of Equateur.

In another development, one new confirmed case was notified the same day in the health zone of Lilanga-Bobangi but no new death was recorded.

The sources also said that 25,908 people had been vaccinated with the rVSV-ZEBOV-GP vaccine since the beginning of the exercise on 5 June 2020.

Presently, 11 health zones have been affected by the Ebola virus epidemic in the province of Equateur. These are Bikoro, Bolomba, Iboko, Mbandaka, Lotumbe, Wangata, Ingende, Lolango-Mampoko, Lilanga-Bobangi, Monieka and Bolenge.

Since the beginning of the epidemic, the overall number of controlled travellers (temperatute-taking) at the health check point is 820,328.

To date, 19 health entry and check points have been established in the province of Equateur to protect the neighbouring zones, as well as the other big cities of the country.
