Cote d'Ivoire to host ILO 14th African regional meeting

Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire (PANA) - The 14th African Regional Meeting of the International Labor Organization (ILO) will be held from December 3 to 6 in Abidjan, the Ivorian economic capital, according to an official communiqué sent to PANA.

The purpose of this meeting is to review the progress made by African countries over the last four years in implementing the Decent Work Agenda in relation to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the African Union (AU) Agenda 2063.

This review will be based on the 2015 Addis Ababa Declaration and the latest report of the Director-General of the ILO.

The report of the Director-General to the Conference will formulate indispensable policy recommendations for inclusive growth and social progress in Africa.

At the end of the meetings, an action plan should be proposed for the continent and for the next decade.

The opening session and the Presidential Roundtable on "The Future of Work We Want for Africa" ​​will take place on December 3rd.

Thematic sessions on "International labor standards, social dialogue and gender equality in the implementation of the Decent Work Agenda and the pursuit of sustainable development goals", "Making decent work a reality" Reality for African Youth ","Skills, Technology and Productivity, Keys to Improving the Future of Work in Africa" and "Transforming the Informal Rural Economy in Africa for Decent Work "will take place on December 4 and 5.

The closing ceremony will take place on December 6th. The meeting in Abidjan will bring together the ILO's tripartite constituents, representing governments, workers and employers from 54 African countries, as well as representatives of international, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations invited by the Governing Body.
