Cote d'Ivoire hosts seminar of G20 Africa

Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire (PANA) - Côte d'Ivoire and the African Centre for Economic Transformation are behind an international Compact peer-to-peer session with G20 Africa holding on Thursday in Abidjan.

'Mixed Financing in Compact G20 Countries: Appropriate Local Context to Boost Investment', is the central theme of the workshop, which will be attended by 200 participants and whose goal is to bring together stakeholders in the Compact initiative G20 around key issues aimed at developing blended finance by adapting effectively to local conditions.

It will also be about learning from good practices, discussing ways to improve blended finance and raising awareness of blending among stakeholders.

This seeks to increase the interest of a large number of investors in the use of the mechanism for the mobilization of resources needed to finance structuring projects in African countries.

Representatives of governments of the African Compact G20 countries, technical development partners, representatives of G20 countries and private sector actors from African countries will be present at this international event.

In March 2017, the G20 countries, under the presidency of Germany, launched an initiative of finance ministers, called 'Compact with Africa G20'.

The initiative aimed at promoting private investment in African countries, in relation to the priorities of these countries. The aim was to encourage private investors from the G20 countries to intervene in Africa through foreign direct investment.

The Compact with Africa G20 has, in addition to the 12 African countries that are  Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guinea, Morocco, Rwanda , Senegal, Togo and Tunisia, the IMF, the World Bank, the AfDB and the G20 countries.
