Côte d’Ivoire: Suspension of protest activities extended till 30 November

Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso (PANA) - The Ivorian authorities Tuesday extended measures to suspend activities until 30 November, 2020, official sources said.

"In view to prevent the breach of public order, the suspension of marches, sit-in and other activities on public streets, all over the national territory is extended until 30 November 2020," a decree issued by the ministry in charge of Security said.

The decree said activities or gathering of people organised by political parties and groupings and associations legally set up fell under a previous declaration.

This is in conformity with the law in force, and remains binding in respect of the ‘prevention measures’ issued within the framework of the fight against the coronavirus (COVID-19).

Persons who contravene the suspension measures will face legal proceedings, the ministry said
