Coronavrus: Gambia records highest single day infection of 15 cases

Banjul, Gambia (PANA) - The Gambia on Saturday registered 15 new cases of COVID-19, the highest number recorded in a single day since the outbreak of global coronavirus, a senior health official announced

The Director of Health Promotion and Education, Modou Njai, said the new cases bring the total number to 93. One more person has died bringing the death toll to four while there are 39 active cases.

He said discussions are at an advanced stage for government to provide health insurance for healthcare workers.

Njai said a health worker who suffers infection from COVID-19 will get full medical treatment and in case of anyone of them succumbs to the disease, his/her family will get a compensation package and the children will be provided with scholarship to first degree level in a public institution in the Gambia.
