Coronavirus: Passengers for Nigeria's domestic flights asked to report three hours before takeoff

Abuja, Nigeria (PANA) – The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) on Monday said that passengers who would travel upon resumption of flights must be at the airport three hours before takeoff time.

The aviation agency said in a tweet on Monday that this has become imperative in order to allow time for passengers to go through the necessary coronavirus (COVID-19) checks.

The tweet read: “#COVID-19 Flight Resumption Protocol for Passengers: You are advised to arrive at the airport three hours before your flight due to the new COVID-19 safety checks.”

The Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 last week announced 21 June as the tentative date for the resumption of domestic flights.

However, the resumption of flights would be dependent on the readiness of airlines and aviation agencies to implement fully the protocols aimed at stopping the spread of the virus.

FAAN has said persons without face masks would not be allowed entry into the airport terminal building. It also advised passengers to maintain a two-metre distance from one another.

Henrietta Yakubu, FAAN corporate affairs manager, said escorts of VIPs will no longer be allowed to follow their subjects into the terminal.
