Congo: Women's advisory council commits against female discrimination

Brazzaville, Congo (PANA)   -   Antoinette Kebi, executive secretary of the Advisory Council for Women, said here Thursday her institution planned to identify problems that hindered the development of women and build them into a data bank for submission to the authorities, state-run radio announced here Friday.

"The Permanent Secretariat wants to be in touch with women from all departments, as we will be doing for this day of information on the women's advisory board."

“The issues identified during this listening session may be subject to purposeful studies," said Kebi.

During the exchanges, the hearing impaired women associated with the day, submitted their complaints to officials in charge of this organ, particularly on the violence against them.

They cited difficulties such as jobs for self-management and certain obstacles related to the pursuit of university studies.

The purpose of this day was to raise awareness of the importance of this organization that works in the fight for women's rights as outlined in Article 17 of the Constitution of 25 November 2015.

This constitutional body, which works for the defense of women, launched an appeal to Congolese women, public and administrations to help them find in the laws and regulations of the republic discriminatory provisions towards women.

Established in January 2019, the Women's Advisory Council is responsible for issuing opinions to the president of the republic on issues related to the status of women.
