Congo: China ready to assist in maintaining peace and security in Africa

Brazzaville, Congo (PANA)   -   China's ambassador to Congo, Ma Fulin, has expressed his country's willingness to play a constructive role in the maintenance of peace and security in Africa.

Ma made the statement during a ceremony marking the 92nd anniversary of the founding of the People's Liberation Army of China, held in the Congolese capital.

"At the Beijing 2018 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, Chinese President Xi Jinping announced that the government would create a China-Africa Cooperation Fund for Peace and Security, and continue to provide military assistance without compensation to the African Union," the Chinese diplomat said.

In addition, Ma highlighted significant progress in military and security cooperation with Congo.

"In recent years, exchanges and cooperation between the two armies have increased with great success," the Chinese envoy said.

Before the Congolese authorities represented by the minister of the Interior and Decentralization, Raymond Zéphirin Mboulou, and other distinguished guests, the Chinese ambassador took this opportunity to take stock of Sino-Congolese cooperation, marked this year by the participation of the military authorities in the various meetings organized in China.

“Indeed, these Congolese military authorities participated in the eighth edition of the Xiangshan Forum in Beijing; in the celebration of the seventieth anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Navy; and in the first edition of the China-Africa Forum on Peace and Security.

"The friendship between China and Congo that is rooted in history is full of vitality. Sino-Congolese military and security cooperation has been, is and will continue to be an important part of the future friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries," said Ma.

The Chinese ambassador announced that, next September, Congolese military trainees would go to China to continue their studies.

He was convinced that the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries and the two armies would "go further and further and higher".
