Civil society delegation from Morocco's southern provinces exposes Polisario's human rights violations

Rabat, Morocco (PANA) - A delegation of civil society from the southern provinces of Morocco revealed this week in Berlin "the serious human rights violations perpetrated by the Polisario Front against the sequestered people in the camps of Tindouf, in Algerian territory", reports the local Moroccan press.

During the meetings held with officials of the Bundestag and conferences organized in Berlin, the same source added that the delegation, which was composed, among others, of the president of ASADEDH, Ramdan Masoud, representing the victims of Polisario, and Khira Khribich, who lived for 20 years in the Tindouf camps, testified to the various forms of torture and their consequences on the lives of victims, and crimes committed by Polisario against the Sahrawi population sequestered in the camps.

Masoud also questioned members of the German parliament on "the enforced disappearances and abuses perpetrated by the Polisario in the camps of Tindouf, in Algerian territory".

It also exposed details of the complaint against the leaders of the Polisario, the illegal reception of Brahim Ghali in Spain, and the conspiracy to avoid his conviction for crimes against humanity.

In addition, other members of the delegation, namely Limam Boussif, businessman and association actor, and Zineb Ramdan, a young entrepreneur in Laayoune (capital of the Sahara), focused their interventions on the entrepreneurial opportunities available to young people in the southern provinces of Morocco, and on the potential of the region in terms of sustainable investments, production of green energy, and fisheries and port potential.

Shaibata Mrabih Rabou, President of the Sahara Centre for Studies and Research on Development and Human Rights, stressed that the autonomy initiative, described as serious and credible in all Security Council resolutions since 2007, was developed through a consultative process involving all segments of the Saharan populations of Morocco.

He also took the opportunity to deny "the allegations concerning the representativeness of the Polisario", saying that "the only legitimate representatives of the population of the Moroccan Sahara are the local elected representatives of the region, of which it is itself a part".
