Cameroonian civil society platform to hold rally on 1 February

Yaoundé, Cameroun (PANA) – A rally in response to the ‘’bloody’’ demonstrations of Cameroon’s Movement for Renaissance (MCR), initiated by the Collective 300 Diaspora, a platform bringing together Cameroonian civil society associations and organisations, will be held on 1 February in the Cameroonian capital, Yaoundé.

The march, which received the permission of the country’s administrative authorities, is a sign of protest against ‘’the white march’’ held Saturday by MCR and at the end of which hundreds of militants of that party were arrested and are still detained.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Collective 300 Diaspora "strongly condemns the acts of defiance of the state authorities and the violence perpetrated against individuals belonging to an opposition political party against government institutions and diplomatic representations on 26 January 2019’’.
