Cameroon: FIFA may sanction FECAFOOT again

Yaoundé, Cameroon (PANA) – In a letter sent to the normalization committee of the Cameroonian football federation (FECAFOOT), the world football governing body, FIFA, has asked FECAFOOT to hold elections by 30 September if it wants to avoid a new wave of sanctions.

In the letter, made public on Wednesday by the FECAFOOT normalization committee, FIFA Secretary General, Jérôme Valcke, said "we noted that the new attempt to adopt the FECAFOOT status failed at the general extraordinary assembly held on 2 June 2015 because delegates representing 35% of the votes boycotted the process and their appeal to the conciliation and arbitration chamber.

"We are not happy about this development as it is about the second cancellation of the adoption of the new status after the first attempt in August 2014."

The FIFA executive committee had given the normalization committee until 30 September to adopt the new status and hold elections for the new FECAFOOT management according to the status.
