Cairo hosts fifth Arab states consultation meeting on migration

Cairo, Egypt (PANA) – The fifth meeting on Arab regional consultation on migration began on Monday at the seat of the League of Arab States in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.

The meeting will look at the proposal made by member states in terms of priority to the international deal for safe, organised and regular migration and the international pact on refugees, said sources at the Pan-Arab organisation.

The participants in the meeting will also examine the 2030 sustainable development goals linked to migration. The meeting will adopt a common position that will be presented at the 121th session of the international forum on migration and development to be hosted in Ecuador in November 2019.

Participants will also determine the points to be included in the communiqué from the meeting and which will be issued by member states at the international refugee day on 20 June 2019. The meeting comes within the framework of the resolution taken by the ministerial council of the Arab league on the holding of consultation meetings on migration in the Arab world.
