CAN 2021 qualifiers: Ivorian Elephants to meet Benin's Squirrels in friendly match

Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire (PANA)  -  Two months into the start of the CAN 2021 qualifiers, Cote d'Ivoire's Elephants will meet Benin's Squirrels in a friendly match tonight in Caen, France.

This meeting has a smell of warmth for the team of coach Kamara Ibrahim, eliminated in the quarterfinals of the last Egyptian CAN by Algeria.

The Ivorian coach, unfortunately cannot for this match rely on the key players of his team.

Nicolas Pépé, Wilfried Zaha, Serey Dié, Maxwell Cornet, Simon Deli, Abdoulaye Bamba and Jonathan Kodja, for various reasons, will not be able to take part in this test match.

This situation embarrasses the Ivorian coach enormously in search of a solid team for the CAN 2023 which will be organized by Cote d'Ivoire.

But before, the group will have to toughen up before going to play in Cameroon during CAN 2021.

It is a group of 17 players who will face Benin.

This match is the first official game of the Ivorians since their exit in the quarterfinals of CAN 2019 in Egypt.
