CAF without legal status in Cairo Ahmad

Cairo, Egypt (PANA)    -   The president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Ahmad Ahmad, said here Wednesday the association had no legal status.

He said CAF was neither an association governed by Egyptian law nor a continental organization with a headquarters agreement.

The CAF president surprised many delegates when from the top of the grandstand of a large hotel in Cairo, he made these remarks at the opening of the CAF's 41st general assembly.

Ahmad stated that "as long as Egypt does not give us this siege agreement, anything can happen".

Ahmad also found a correlation between the lack of a seat agreement between the body he leads and Egypt and "what happened in Paris", in reference to his arrest in the French capital, a few weeks ago, following a complaint about "mismanagement".

In such circumstances, Ahmad expressed regret that he could not keep his campaign promise of reaching 50 percent of CAF staff from 53 other African countries because, on Wednesday, this figure was only 35 percent.
