CAF to accelerate reforms to give 'new dynamic' to football - Ahmad

Cairo, Egypt (PANA) – The Confederation of African football (CAF) is committed to accelerate its reforms "to give a new dynamic to the general activities of our confederation".

The assurance was given on Thursday at the 41st general ordinary assembly of the organisation held in Cairo and chaired by its president Ahmad Ahmad.

The Malagasy who was replaced Cameroonian Issa Hayatou two-and-a-half years ago said he was pleased with the progress made "despite contingencies".

In the next months, the different development zones will be transformed into "CAF decentralized offices to engage in decisive actions on the development of football in our continent", he said.

In this sense, those offices could rely on the support of the world football governing body, FIFA, which will grant US$1 million every year that will be added to the US$500,000 per zone which CAF will give each zone.

CAF, according to Ahmad, will increase its annual donation to member associations from US$100,000 to US$$200,000.

An autonomous and independent governance commission will be established, to be in charge of all ethical and rules conformity questions.

In addition, Mr Ahmad announced the holding before the end of this year of a summit on the governance of African football.

The CAF president said before the general assembly that he expected much from FIFA to assist CAF complete the reforms.

The chairman of FIFA, Gianni Infantino reassured him, as well as all participants in the conference, about the infinite support from the world football governing body.
