CAF President urges Forbes U30 Africa Summit to invest in young people and football to build a better Africa

Gaborone, Botswana (PANA) - CAF President, Dr Patrice Motsepe, has told delegates at the Forbes U30 Africa Summit in Gaborone, Botswana, that there is an urgent need for businesses and governments to develop young people, encourage the spirit of entrepreneurship and invest in football on the African continent.

The CAF President also had a private meeting with the Botswana Head of State, Mokgweetsi Masisi.

Dr Motsepe said: “I had a very good discussion with President Masisi. We were exposed to the collaboration and assistance that the Botswana government is providing for the development and growth of football in Botswana. I want to thank President Masisi for his support and commitment to football in Botswana and on the African continent.”

The CAF President told business leaders and football stakeholders, that football is the most popular sport in Africa and CAF is committed to building mutually beneficial partnerships with the governments, private sector and other stakeholders whilst adhering to governance and ethical best practices.

Dr Motsepe, an accomplished international businessman and a philanthropist, encouraged young people to pursue their dreams, and not to be discouraged by the challenges and difficulties they may experience when they engage in businesses.

“The urgency now is to get started, and make things happen. Some of our young people are amongst the best in the world. What they need is financial and other resources, and support. The most difficult part of any venture is when you start. Success perpetuates itself,” Dr Motsepe said.

According to the CAF news outlet, "The Under 30 Summit comes to the world’s greatest growth market, Africa, for the first time. In April, 2022, the world’s most elite young entrepreneurs and game-changers will convene in one of the world’s most beautiful countries, Botswana. Of the participants, one third will come from the 30 Under 30 Africa community, one third from hosts (Botswana), and one-third from the Forbes 30 Under 30 community worldwide."

During the Summit, April 24-28, 2022, participants will hear from government, venture capital and business role models, providing inspiration for the newest—and next—generation of leaders.

Participants will welcome local performers, chefs and entrepreneurs, experiencing the sounds, cuisine and staples of local culture while engaging in unbeatable networking and pitching opportunities.

As with every Under 30 Summit, the social and cultural opportunities will be world-class.

Conveners say "Halfway through the event we’ll jump on our own private planes and take the excitement from Gaborone to Kasane and the nearby Chobe National Park, the world’s largest elephant sanctuary.

"Here, we’ll focus on sustainability, with a special day of outdoor programming, a sunset river cruise among the hippos and crocodiles and a special sunrise safari that ranks among the best in Africa.

"Across five days, we’ll explore in every way the best of Africa, and harness the power of entrepreneurial capitalism amid the continent whose growth will help define the 21st century."
