Burundian President to attend the 18th ECCAS Summit in Libreville

Bujumbura, Burundi (PANA) - Burundian President Evariste Ndayishimiye will attend the 18th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) on Friday in Libreville, the Gabonese capital, according to an official Burundian press release.

The Burundian presidential couple is expected this Thursday in Libreville, according to the release.

Created in 1983, ECCAS currently brings together nine countries: Angola, Burundi, Cameroon, Republic of Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Chad, Sao Tome and Principe.

This set of sub-regional integration pursues the objectives of promoting and strengthening cooperation, mainly in the fields of industry, transport, communications and energy.

ECCAS is a large market of over 180 million consumers and a gross domestic product (GDP) of US$ 130 billion, according to official data.
