Burkinabe army repels attack in north-central region

Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso (PANA) - The Burkinabe army on Friday repelled an attack that targeted the military detachment of Pensa, a commune located a hundred kilometers north of Kaya, in the north-central region of the country, security sources told PANA.

"Unidentified armed individuals attacked the Pensa military detachment with a rocket on Friday morning. Elements on the job resisted and the attackers fled," a security official said.

This attack comes while the Burkinabè army has intensified offensive operations against terrorism.

On Tuesday morning the army killed 80 terrorists in Arbinda in Soum province of Sahel in response to an attack in which 35 civilians including 31 women and 7 soldiers died.
