Burkinabe President pays tribute to victims of two attacks in the North and Centre-North

Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso (PANA) - The President of Burkina Faso, Lt-Col. Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba, on Friday paid tribute to the seven soldiers and four auxiliaries killed on Thursday in two terrorist attacks in the North and Centre-North of Burkina Faso.

"In the performance of their duties, soldiers from military and gendarmerie units, as well as Volunteers and civilians, made the supreme sacrifice on Thursday, May 5, 2022, in Sollé and Ouanobé," wrote President Damiba.

"I would like to pay a heartfelt tribute to these fighters," he added.

According to Damiba in Sollé (North), the fallen soldiers and volunteers were trying to help innocent people resettle in localities where they could resume their activities, when death struck.

"In Ouanobé (Centre-North), the gendarmes showed exemplary bravery that should inspire every Burkinabe in these times when the Fatherland calls us to defend it with all our strength," he said.

"May the souls of these patriots, who accepted to take their oath to the end, rest in peace. To the injured, I wish them a speedy recovery. Like these heroes, we will always assume our commitment by relentlessly hunting down those who only understand the language of violence," the head of state added.
