Burkina PM, EU delegation discuss security in the country

Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso (PANA) – The Burkinabe Prime Minister, Christophe Marie Joseph Dabiré, and an European Union (EU) delegation led by the Managing Director for International Cooperation and Development, Stefano Manservisi, on Monday discussed the security situation in the West African country, marked by fresh outbreak of terrorist attacks.

"We shared views on the security situation, particularly the fight against terrorism and the development of our country. I was very pleased to note that the EU will always stand by the Burkinabe people in that war and its development paths," said the Burkinabe PM.

Mr Manservisi said that the terrorists attack vulnerable targets.

"In that sense, we decided to … better target security and development interventions," he said.

Mr Manservisi added that the objective of their discussions with the head of the Burkinabe Prime Minister was to analyse, share and define action lines so as to be more efficient to help the country face not only terrorist attacks but to be equipped enough to counter-attack.

Since 2015 Burkina Faso has been facing several terrorist attacks that have claimed many lives and injured many more.
