Burkina Faso to launch immunization campaign for children

Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso (PANA)   -   Burkina Faso President Roch Marc Christian Kaboré will Monday launch an immunization campaign for children aged two years and beyond, the health ministry announced here on Sunday.

This activity, to be launched in the Saponé rural commune, forms part of the African immunization week (SAV) celebrated on deferred basis in Burkina Faso from 29 April to 6 May 2019.

A communiqué from the health ministry said the immunization coverage also aimed to sensitize more people to immunization at this stage of life by involving all actors.

"Recognized world champion of immunization, in view of his sustained commitment, through the mobilization of funds and the promotion of immunization, the head of State is implementing well his programme for the health of children and women," the communiqué stressed.

In 2019, 4.7 billion of CFA francs was mobilized for immunization, according to the health ministry.

As a reminder, the budget allocated to the health ministry has been steadily increasing for almost four years. It currently represents 12 percent of the national budget.
