Burkina Faso: Police arrest 6 alleged perpetrators of assault and rape

Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso (PANA) - Burkina Faso's National Police on Tuesday announced that they have uncovered a network of people assaulting and raping women in Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso.

"About 60 women who were assaulted and raped, 26 of them already identified, is the result of the malicious actions of a group of 6 offenders who attacked only women in the Tampouy, Kilwin, Marcoussi, Kamboinsin, Tanghin, Koulouba neighbourhoods in Ouagadougou and the city of Ziniaré," the police said in a statement.

Since the first complaint registered on March 5, 2020, at the police station in the district of Signonghin (Ouagadougou), elements of the Brigade of Research of the police station have continued to pursue the thugs in order to arrest them.

"After a few months of investigation, they managed to get their hands on members of the group of delinquents composed of six members whose ages vary from 19 to 42 years.

After investigation, the 6 offenders were brought before the Prosecutor of Faso, at the Tribunal de Grande Instance of Ouagadougou for judicial follow-up.

The National Police reiterate its gratitude to all those who worked tirelessly with them to combat insecurity in all its forms.
