Botswana and Poland forge trade relations

Gaborone, Botswana (PANA)   -   The Botswana Investment and Trade Center (BITC) Wednesday signed a   memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Polish Chamber of Commerce on trade and investment, officials said here.

The BITC hosted the Polish Chamber of Commerce team which included representatives of some Poland companies in the capital city of Gaborone on Wednesday.

The Polish companies represented at the meeting and signing ceremony were Art Metal, Elzab, Vobro, Wektor, Bomet Sp.zo.o. Sp.K. and Boryszew Group.

The prospective industries for cooperation between the two countries include the agricultural sector, machines for agriculture and food processing, mining industry and mining machines, infrastructure construction like rails, roads, housing construction logistics.

The Polish Chamber will also help in green energy construction and modernisation of energy infrastructure (lines, power plants) to enable Botswana to diversify from the fossil powered energy to green energy.

The Polish Chamber of Commerce is also looking into opening manufacturing companies in Botswana, in  general, automotive and many other sectors to create employment for Batswana (citizens of botswana).

Under the MOU, Botswana will import yarn products, electric machinery and equipment, mechanic machinery and equipment, furniture and house applications, alluminium and many other goods from some Polish companies.

The Polish companies will import yarn articles for kitchen use, Ignition wiring sets and machine parts from Botswana.

This agreement followed a  business seminar in Katowice and the official visit of the president of the republic of Botwsana, Mokgweetsi Masisi, early in 2019.
