Botswana 2019 national election day declared public holiday

Gaborone, Botswana (PANA)    -   Botswana President Dr. Mokgweetsi Masisi  says 23rd, 24th and 25th October 2019 will be declared paid public holidays to afford Batswana the opportunity to exercise their democratic rights and vote for their party of choice.

The president said this in his countrywide addresses during the week where he urged Batswana (citizens of Botswana) to vote wisely for leaders to represent them in parliament.

Six Botswana political parties will run for parliamentary and presidential seats. The parties are Alliance for Progressives (AP); the Botswana ruling party, Botswana Democratic Party (BDP); the newly formed former President Ian Khama-backed Botswana Patriotic Party (BPF); Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD); Real Alternative Party (RAP), and the coalition of many different parties, the Umbrella Democratic Change (UDC).

There are also many other independent candidates contesting parliamentary and councilor seats around the country.

Many are however rallying behind the United Democratic Congress (UDC) which is promising the nation the creation of 10, 000 jobs to win the elections this year. The UDC says it will create more than 10, 000 jobs if it wins the elections.
