Benin gets National Social Protection Agency

Cotonou, Benin (PANA) – Benin has established a national social protection agency to implement the government’s policies and strategies on social protection.

The agency is to define and update the standard care and fees package, in collaboration with insurance companies, the authority regulating insurance policies, health centre representatives, representatives of the pharmaceutical sector and civil society actors.

Government officials said the agency will be also in charge of delivering authorization to strategic service providers and partners on the basis of the specific criteria for each type of service providers and partners.

It will also gather, check, treat and update information related to registration, payment of contributions, mobilization of resources of all kinds, the provision of services and regulation of service providers.
