Barrow appoints new minister for women, children

Banjul, Gambia (PANA) - Gambian President Adama Barrow has named Ms Fatou Sanyang Kinteh as new Minister for Women’s Affairs, Children and Social Welfare effective from 1 March, the presidency confirmed on Wednesday.

It said the Ministry of Women's Affairs will  be detached from the Office of the Vice President.

Mrs. Sanyang Kinteh previously served in Gambia’s Women’s Bureau and the  United Nations for several years.

In a separate development, President Barrow accompanied by a high ranking delegation, left Banjul on Wednesday for  Mauritania on a two-day working visit.

According to an official source, the Gambian and Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz will hold discussions on  enhancing bilateral relations between Banjul and Nouakchott.
