Auxiliary bishop appointed for Bouaké in Côte d'Ivoire

Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire (PANA) -  The Vatican Embassy in Abidjan on Wednesday announced the appointment of Rev. Father Jacques Assanvo Ahiwa as Auxiliary Bishop of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Bouaké, the second Ivorian city.

Ahiwa is currently lecturer in Biblical Sciences at the Faculty of Theology of the University of Strasbourg.

According to a press release sent to PANA from the apostolic nunciature, the nominated bishop was born on 6 January  1969 and was ordained priest on 13  December 1997.


He later held positions of vicar, secretary general of the bishopric and director of pontifical and missionary works. He holds a doctorate obtained at the University of Strasbourg.
