Arab League chief, Libyan parliamentary Speaker discuss the situation in Libya

Cairo, Egypt (PANA) - The Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Abou el-Gheit, on Monday discussed with the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Libyan People (Parliament), Salah Aguila, the latest security developments in Libya and the means to put an end to them.

 

At their meeting in Cairo, Egypt, Abou el-Gheit reiterated the total commitment of the pan-Arab organization to assist "the Libyan brothers" in all the steps likely to help find a solution to the Libyan crisis and to open the way for the unification of state institutions while completing the constitutional and electoral needs of the Libyan people.

 

The spokesman of the League, Mahmoud Affifi, called for the need to encourage Libyan actors to show restraint at this critical moment in Libya, stressing the importance of avoiding any escalation that could complicate the return to dialogue.

 

The spokesman said that Salah Aguila gave a full statement on the situation, his position on the events and welcomed the support of the Secretary-General to the Libyan state and its people to preserve Libya's unity and national security.
