Angola presents diamond sector strategy at SA confab

Cape Town, South Africa (PANA) - "The attraction of private investors for the diversification of mineral production in Angola" was the theme of a presentation by the country Tuesday at the 16th International Conference on Mineral Investment in Africa, which started Monday in
Cape Town, South Africa.

“We’ll try to show other countries attending the event, where we are and what we are doing at the moment,” the secretary of state, Geology and Mining, Mankenda Ambroise, told the Angolan News Agency, ANGOP.

“We’ll take the liberty to explain why one should invest in Angola, the incentives and advantages the country offers, since we still need a lot of studies, because there are many
possibilities and probabilities to find resources, other than the existing ones,” Ambroise explained.

According to him, the meeting will serve to exchange experiences, check the work of others in terms of mineral resources and analyse the level of Angola’s progress in this sector.

The Angolan delegation, led by the Minister of Geology and Mining and Industry, Joaquim David, will meet with officials from exploration companies and associations in this sector operating in prospecting, production and trade.

The African Diamonds Producers Association (ADPA) will hold a meeting Thursday, the last day of the conference.
