Algeria, Niger pledge commitment to regional security challenges

Algiers, Algeria (PANA) – The Niger Prime Minister, Brigi Rafini, on Tuesday ended a two-day official visit to Algeria at the invitation of his Algerian counterpart, Noureddine Bedoui.

The head of the Niger government, during his visit, held talks with Algeria's acting president, Abdelkader Bensalah, during which they reaffirmed their countries' commitment to take up the security challenges which the Sahel region is facing, in Libya particularly.

Rafini also held talks the Algerian minister of the Interior, Local Authorities and Town and Country Planning.

The two ministers agreed to hold a joint Algerian-Nigerien bilateral border committee during the second quarter of this year.

It will undertake the establishment of a monitoring and evaluation mechanism of all recommendations to be made by the committee.
