Airplane escapes attack at Tripoli international airport

Tripoli, Libya (PANA)   -  An airplane of the Libyan airline, ‘Libyan Arab Airlines’, has escaped a new bombardment at the international airport of Maitigua, eastern suburb of Tripoli, airport sources said here Wednesday.

In a brief statement, the management of Maitigua airport said the airplane belonging to the Libyan air company, ‘Libyan Arab Airlines’, which came from the southern region of Ghat, was preparing to land at the moment of the attack.

Maitigua airport, the only air space linking the city, is the target of a series of almost daily bombardments, disrupting the air navigation and causing its temporary closure.

This situation was denounced by the UN envoy in Libya, Ghassan Salamé, who called the belligerents to stop targeting the airport or using it militarily.
