Airplane changes course after new closure of Maitigua airport

Tripoli, Libya (PANA)  -  An airplane of the Libyan private airline "Al Buraq" changed course to Misrata airport (220 km) after the closure of the air space of Maitigua airport because of a rocket falls, airport sources said here Sunday.

The airplane, from the international airport of Tunis Carthage to Tripoli, should have landed at Maitigua airport which was closed until further notice, said a communiqué issued by the airport’s management.

The international airport of Maitigua announced earlier the fall of rockets inside the airport.

Maitigua, the only airport linking the Libyan capital after the destruction in 2014 of the city’s main airport, was closed several times since the launching of the military operation by troops of the Libyan national army commanded by Marshall Khalifa Haftar against Tripoli, seat of the government of national accord.
