Air Senegal licensed to serve European countries

Dakar, Senegal (PANA) - Senegalese airline, Air Sénégal, has obtained the Truth Country Operator (TCO) license which allows it to serve European countries, the Senegalese Minister of Tourism and Air Transport, Alioune Sarr, announced here.

"If Air Senegal, after a year of existence, has achieved the feat of being accredited by the European Civil Aviation Safety Oversight Agency, we must rightly hail it," he said on Tuesday in Dakar, in the presence of the company's general manager, Ibrahime Kane.

He recalled that the ambition of the Senegalese authorities is to turn the country into a hub for air transport and make Air Senegal a national pride.

"Obtaining this authorization was a challenge for our national airline which was quick to receive it compared to other companies whose application was rejected by the European Aviation Safety Supervisory Agency," said Kane.

He said that this success is partly due to the consolidation of the security of the company, pointing out that one of its current objectives is to get permission to go to the United States and some African countries.
