Air Mauritius launches new aircraft, the A330neo

Plaisance, Mauritius (PANA) - The Mauritian airline, Air Mauritius, on Friday launched a new aircraft, the A330neo, at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport in Plaisance, in the south of the island.

Dubbed the Aapravasi Ghat, this two-class aircraft with 28 seats in business class and 260 seats in the economy class, will mainly serve the Mauritius/ London route, but also other destinations in India and Southeast Asia and regional destinations, including South Africa, Madagascar and Reunion Island.

Air Mauritius CEO, Somas Appavou, said the A330neo has similar levels of comfort to the A350 XWB.

"The first Airbus A330neo represents a new milestone in the modernization program of our fleet. The two A330neos joining our fleet will provide us with greater flexibility and operational efficiency while supporting our network strategy," he said.

Mr. Appavou said he was convinced that with this new aircraft, "Air Mauritius will further strengthen its orientation and commitment to the customer, which is the center of our business model."

Air Mauritius currently operates 9 Airbus aircraft (two A350-900s, three A340-300s, two A330-200s and two A319s) on its regional and long-haul services.
