Africom Commander visits Burkina Faso

Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso (PANA) - General Stephen Townsend, Commander of the U.S. Africa Command (Africom), is in Ouagadougou to meet with senior Burkina Faso officials to discuss common security issues in the region, the Embassy of the United States in Burkina Faso announced on Tuesday.

"This trip is part of a larger regional visit to West Africa for General Townsend," the embassy said.

The embassy added that the visit will focus on ongoing military cooperation between the United States and Burkina Faso and reaffirm U.S. commitment to improve the West African country's security capabilities.

The United States supports Burkina Faso in the fight against terrorism through training sessions.
