AfDB Webinar on 'Promoting renewable energy technologies for sustainable development in post-Covid-19 Africa
Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire (PANA) - The Africa Renewable Energy Initiative (AREI), and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) will Thursday, September 10, 2020, organize a webinar on the role of technological innovation and the digitization of the electricity system for a socially-inclusive energy transition to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Agenda 2063.
The Africa Renewable Energy Initiative (AREI) is a fund on renewable energy in Africa which is hosted by the African Development Bank (AfDB).
The AfDB media outlet said the virtual meeting will bring together African and non-African technical institutions, international organizations, the private sector and civil society.
The main objectives of the webinar are to (i) understand the key role of energy transition in Africa in the post-pandemic period towards sustainable development and better resilience; (ii) discuss the crucial role of innovation and in particular the digitization of energy systems in the energy transition; (iii) identify strategic actions through renewable energies to stimulate the energy transition and stimulate the socio-economic development of the continent in a sustainable and fair manner.
