61st Congress of International Council of African Airports opens in Cairo

Cairo, Egypt (PANA) - The 61st Congress of the International Council of Airports in Africa kicked off on Wednesday in Cairo, Egypt, with 400 delegates from 50 African countries in attendance.

 

Experts, specialist members of the International Council of Airports, Air Transport and African airlines will attend the session, which ends on March 10.

 

Speaking at the opening of the congress, the Egyptian Minister of Civil Aviation, in a speech read by the Director General of Civil Aviation of Egypt, called on the workers in the aviation industry sector, to seek new perspectives and means of cooperation to achieve sustainable development of the sector.

 

The objectives must be achieved through the implementation of a complementary plan to promote the continent's air transport industry and to ensure continuous training of staff, in addition to the adoption of new technologies.

 

The issue of its cooperation with African countries in various fields, including the development of the aviation industry, while offering its experience in the modernization of airport infrastructures and the maintenance of planes, as well as the development of the air navigation system and hosting African students of aviation sciences are key priorities for Egypt.

 

Ali Tounsi, Secretary General of the International Airports Council, said the International Airports Council of Africa includes 250 of the continent's largest airports in 51 countries, adding that the council is for cooperation between member countries in the field of training and the development of services and human resources.

 

Top on the agenda of the congress are a number of issues, including the challenges facing African airports in order to develop activities, the exploitation of the vicinity of airports, how to contribute to the economic development of the member countries, relations between airports and tourism.
