4 killed in vehicle explosion in Burkina Faso

Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso (PANA) – Four people, including a forester, were killed on Monday evening in Nobéré (Zoundwéogo), when a vehicle carrying dynamite exploded, the Burkinabe news agency (AIB) reported on Tuesday.

On Monday around 18h, a forester, assisted by two trackers, attempted to arrest an alleged smuggler in the Tambi Kaboré national Park, in the commune of Nobéré, province of Zoundwéogo. The alleged smuggler was carrying dynamite in his vehicle.

According to the AIB journalists, it was when the assistant driver got out of the vehicle to remove a barrier that the vehicle exploded violently.

The driver died immediately as the forester and the two trackers were killed by the deflagrations.

AIB said that illegal dynamite trade has recorded a boom over the past few years in Burkina Faso because of the increase in the gold panning sites almost all over the national territory.
