27th Congress of Universal Postal Union opens in Cote d'Ivoire

Bamako, Mali (PANA) - The 27th Congress of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) opened in the Ivorian city of Abidjan on Monday to, among other things, draw up a new postal map for the next four years.

The three-week Congress, being attended by some 600 delegates from the 192 member countries, will provide an opportunity to review in detail what has been done so far to promote and modernise postal services and determine where to go in terms of the postal service's global development policy to promote e-commerce.

It is also being followed by 1,000 delegates virtually from around the world.

The theme for the Congress is: "Digitalisation of postal services, development of e-commerce."

The Malian Prime Minister, Choguel Kokalla Maiga, is among participants at the Congress.
