2023 AFCON: DR Congo thrash Guinea 3-1 to sail into semi-final

Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire - DR Congo on Friday made a strong statement about their potential to win the 2023 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament when they came from behind to thrash Guinea 3-1 in their quarter-final match played at the Stade Alassane Ouattara in Abidjan to sail into the semi-final.

The Leopards fell behind to a 20th minute penalty converted by Mohamed Bayo but quickly recovered when Chancel Mbemba pulled them even seven minutes later.

Yoane Wissa put them ahead in the 61st minute after scoring from the penalty spot and Arthur Masauku completed the victory with his goal in the 82nd minute.

DR Congo will meet the winner of Saturday's West African derby between Cote d'Ivore and Mali in the semi-final.
