2019 AFCON: Senegal beat Benin 1-0 to secure semi-final berth

Cairo, Egypt (PANA) - Senegal on Wednesday became the first country to reach the semi-finals of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Egypt when they cruised past Benin 1-0 in their quarter-final match played at the June 30 stadium in Cairo on Wednesday.

Idrissa Gueye completed a fast move by the Senegalese in the 70th minute when he picked a final pass from Sadio Mane to slot the ball into the net.

Mane himself had two goals disallowed, one in the 73rd minute ruled out by VAR which became operational from this stage of the competition.

Benin ended the match with 10 men as defender Olivier Verdon was red-carded in the 82nd minute for fouling Gueye.

Mane himself was stretchered off in the 90th minute.
