2019 AFCON: Nigeria beat Cameroon 3-2 to knock out the holders

Alexandria, Egypt (PANA) - Nigeria on Saturday knocked out holders Cameroon in their exciting Round of 16 match in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations tournament played in Alexandria to reach the quarter-final.

In a match that goals flowed rapidly, the Nigerians prevailed 3-2, with Odion Ighalo scoring a brace, to dump the Cameroonians from the competition.

Nigeria raced into the lead in the 19th minute when Ighalo converted a free kick in a crowded goal area.

Cameroon equalised in the 41st minute through Stephane Bahoken when he tapped the ball into the net. The holders went ahead three minutes later through Clinton N'jie to end the first half 2-1 in their favour.

The Nigerians came back strongly in the second half and Ighalo pulled his side even in the 63rd minute. Alex Iwobi then scored what turned out to be the winner in the 66th minute.
