2019 AFCON: Hosts Egypt crash out of tournament

Cairo, Egypt (PANA) - Hosts and favourites Egypt on Saturday crashed out of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations tournament when they were humbled by South Africa 1-0 in their Round of 16 match played at the Cairo International Stadium.

Thembinkosi Lorch's 85th minute goal silenced the vociferous Egyptian supporters in another huge upset at the tournament.

The victory propelled South Africa, who only qualified from Group D as one of the four best third-placed teams with only 3 points, into the quarter-finals.
