2019 AFCON: Algeria beat Senegal 1-0 to lift trophy

Cairo, Egypt (PANA) - Algeria on Friday beat Senegal 1-0 in the final of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament at the Cairo International Stadium.

Algerian Baghdad Bounedjah's deflected goal after 2 minutes sealed victory for the Desert Foxes. This is the second time Algeria have won the AFCON trophy after 1990.

Senegal were denied a penalty by VAR in the second half. The Teranga Lions poured men forward in the second half, but they could not find the net.

The result is a repeat of their Group C match.

Algeria ended the tournament with 12 goals, the highest by any team in this 32nd edition of the competition.
