2018 FIFA U-17 WWC: Ghana thrash Uruguay 5-0 in opening match

Montevideo, Uruguay (PANA) - Ghana's captain Mukarama Abdulai scored a hat-trick as Ghana thrashed hosts Uruguay 5-0 in the opening match of the 2018 FIFA U-17 Women's World competition on Tuesday in Montevideo.

Abdulai found the net in the 25th, 78th and 90th minutes as the Black maidens defied the massive home support for La Celeste to claim all three points in their Group A match.

Fuseina Mumuni opened the floodgates in the 20th minute before Abdulai scored her first goal five minutes later to end the first half 2-0 in favour of the West Africans.

Millot Pokuaa made it 3-0 in the 66th minute with Abdulai completing the whitewash with goals in the 78th and 90th minutes at the Estadio Charrua.
