2017 internet shutdown: ECOWAS Court holds Togo govt. liable for violation of Citizens’ Freedom of Expression


Abuja, Nigeria (PANA) - The ECOWAS Community Court of Justice has ordered the Togolese government to pay 16 million CFA Francs as compensation to Amnesty International in Togo, six other locally-based non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and a Togolese journalist for the violation of their right to Freedom of Expression for shutting down internet access twice in September 2017 following protests against the government
