16 new cases test positive for coronavirus in Côte d'Ivoire

Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire (PANA) - The Ivorian Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene on Friday announced 16 new cases have tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19).

The new cases bring the number of people tested positive for COVID-19 to 96 in the country, including three cured cases but there has been no death, said the ministry in its daily update on the pandemic.

In addition, it said that the monitoring team is hard at work to find and screen contacts of the people concerned.

The first case of COVID-19 in Côte d'Ivoire was notified on March 11, after a positive test in a 45-year-old male who had stayed in Italy.

To stop the spread of the pandemic, President Alassane Ouattara declared a state of emergency and a curfew on March 23.
